James Miles Musical Innovation Grant
The Black Violin Foundation's inaugural program provides scholarships of up to $5,000 to young musicians or voice students who would like to continue their musical education through a program of their choice. The goal of this merit based grant, is to continue fostering musical creativity and innovation in young musicians, to support their next steps in order to elevate their potential music career.
Programs can range from private lessons to summer music camps, to college courses. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis.

Purpose
This is a merit based grant that provides funding up to $5,000 for young musicians interested in furthering their skills in either instrument or voice. Funds are paid directly to the program, not individuals.
Who can apply?
• Students ages 13 to 22
• Applicants must have previously received musical instruction
• Eligible applicants must be at an advanced level
Application deadline
• Deadline: January 22, 2026
• A video submission of one minute or longer is required
• A letter of recommendation must be included
• Incomplete applications will not be reviewed
Award notification
Recipients will be notified the first week of June
